Belongix ("we", "us", "our") is an online career learning platform built for Indian professionals. We are based in India and operate at belongix.in.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our platform, courses, and related services.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: Name, email address, and password when you register
- Profile information: City, phone number, LinkedIn URL, current role, company, experience, skills, and bio — which you optionally add to your profile
- Contact messages: When you reach out via our contact form
- Payment information: Processed securely by Razorpay — we never store card details
Information collected automatically
- Course progress: Which courses you enroll in, lessons completed, and certificates earned
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address
Information stored locally
We use your browser's localStorage to store course progress and profile caches so the platform works offline and loads faster. This data stays on your device unless you clear your browser data.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Belongix account
- To track your course progress and issue verified certificates
- To calculate and display your Career Score
- To process Pro plan subscriptions via Razorpay
- To respond to your messages and support requests
- To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
- To improve the platform based on how features are used
- To comply with legal obligations under Indian law
We do not use your information for advertising profiling, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Data Sharing
We share your data only with trusted service providers who help us operate Belongix:
- Supabase: Our database and authentication provider (stores account and profile data)
- Razorpay: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions (card data never touches our servers)
- Vercel: Website hosting and deployment
- YouTube: Embedded video content in courses (YouTube may set cookies per their own policy)
We may disclose data if required by Indian law, court order, or government authority.
5. Cookies
We use minimal cookies:
- Authentication cookies: Set by Supabase to keep you logged in
- YouTube cookies: Set by YouTube when embedded videos load. You can block these in your browser settings — it will not affect the rest of Belongix
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active
- Course progress: Retained until you delete your account
- Contact messages: Retained for 12 months then deleted
- On account deletion, all your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days
7. Your Rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) 2023, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data we hold
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent to data processing at any time
- Grievance redressal: Raise a complaint with us if you believe your data rights have been violated

8. Data Security
We take security seriously:
- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we never store plain-text passwords
- Database access is restricted to authorised personnel only
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Razorpay (PCI-DSS compliant)

9. Children's Privacy
Belongix is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Third-Party Links
Our platform contains links to external websites (LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before sharing any personal information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email and display the updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of Belongix after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
